Maiden 1. A race for horses that have not won a race.
2. The name given to all horses without a victory.
Mare 1. Female horse aged five and above.
2. Having a bad day's punting. (having a nightmare).
Market The betting amount available on any event taken as a whole.
Middler US term to indicate a bettor that places bets on both sides to win both sides of the same betting proposition. For example, if you bet the underdog +3 1/2 and the favorite - 2 1/2 and the favorite wins by exactly 3 points, you have then "middled the game".
Money Line US term to indicate a line offered without a handicap.
Monkey A £500 bet.
